Thanksgiving is late this year which gives me time to talk books before talking turkey!
Just back from an extraordinary trip to Andalucia in southern Spain*** and seriously jetlagged, I wasn't sure if I'd recover in time, but I woke up this morning feeling like a new woman. Ready to go!
First, this week I'll be speaking to The Landing Book Club, hosted by Margaret Zoehrer in one of California's iconic gem cities - Coronado - that legendary, romantic, and magical seaside resort. Will have to pause for a stroll on the beach there to remind myself of Sorolla's magnificent exhibition in Madrid, filled with images of his beloved Valencia beaches. Sadly, Valencia was hit badly by floods several days after we left the south of Spain.
On Wednesday, November 20 I'm back in my hometown, Dallas, to speak to Mes Amies (which means “my friends” in French), a 100-member philanthropic group that presents gifts or checks at Christmas to Nexus, one of the few substance abuse programs in the nation that can accommodate children while their mothers are in residential treatment.
If you'd like more details about this event, email me.
*** I did manage to write some on my trip (it's a very long plane ride) and will be sharing some reflections very soon. Stay tuned!
