Your Story is Worth Telling
I would love to help you tell it

Everyone has a story to tell. How to go about telling it can be a daunting task. I know it was for me. In 2020, I published my first book, The Orange Woods: Seasons in the Country Artfully Lived. It wasn't the writing or the workshopping or the editing or the pitching process or figuring out how to talk about my work that was the most challenging. The hardest part was getting started. Once you start writing, the rest will come.

Since then, I have had the joy of working on several other books, publishing an autobiographical novel, After Goya: A Mature-ish Fairy Tale in 2024, and stepping into a new adventure helping others tell their stories with as-told-to memoir.

WILMA: A biography as told to Marilyn Woods, was published on my imprint, 215 Press, in 2025. The process of hearing nearly 100 years of Wilma's stories and capturing not only a record of her wonderful life, but also her feisty spirit, was both a gift and an honor. The resulting book is a precious way for those who knew and loved her to keep her memory alive, and to share her with those who never will.

The process of helping someone tell their story is an intimate and rewarding one. It begins with deciding what slice of life we aim to capture. Is it a complete biography, from birth onward? If so, what's our through line? Is it your life organized by the jobs you had, the trips you took, the recipes you made, or the lovers who left a lasting impact on your heart? Is the story you want to tell a smaller slice? Maybe the story of the summer you fell in love or your career as a dancer or your children's childhoods.

We start with this conversation because what we will create together isn't a laundry list of dates and facts, but a story. Your story.

From there, we will figure out the best way for you to share it with me so I can start writing. We can meet for interviews, have phone calls, you can share diaries. The process is entirely customized to what makes you most comfortable. Along the way, I will share chapters for you to review.

Once the story has been captured on paper, it will be proofread and edited. We will discuss any photographs or art you'd like to include. Finally, the design process will begin and words and pictures will be transformed into a physical book for you to review one last time before it is published and made available for the world. And most importantly, for those in your life who will cherish this intimate gift of yourself.

The hardest part is getting started. But I want to make that easy for you, so let's start with a conversation.

Let's talk about telling your story.

Send me a brief note (just a few sentences) about your idea and the best way to get in touch with you for a free consultation and quote.
